Dysmaturity refers to a developmental gap where an individual’s emotional, social, or cognitive maturity is significantly younger than their chronological age. This creates challenges in self-regulation, independence, relationships, and executive functioning. It is particularly prevalent in FASD, but also overlaps with ASD, ADHD, and trauma-related disorders.
